The boys over at Fangoria have
certainly kept busy today.
They’ve scored an interview with the man who really started the slasher genre in
the early seventies, Bob Clark, and asked him what he thought about the
BLACK CHRISTMAS remake that’s being done, on which he is executive producer.
Clark had a lot to say to Fangoria,
and I’m a bit torn about some of his responses. For some reason I get the
feeling that he really didn’t want this remake done. Read these excerpts and let
me know what you guys think!
Clark said “I
never wanted to do a remake, and I swore I’d never do one,” admits the
influential director. “But when Glen and James came into the picture, I figured
it was time.”
He also went on to say
“This one is much more violent—it’s what Dimension
wanted,” reveals a slightly cynical Clark. “I wouldn’t have done it that way,
but some people really want it to go further, to know more and see more. I
personally like it the way it is.”
This is pretty interesting because
even though he’s onboard with the film, I still don’t think he wants it done.
It’s strange to be helping make a film, but at the same time talk out against
it. He either must be hard up for cash, or he’s trying to use this as leverage
with Dimension films to get another movie of his own done. Who knows? To read
