Colman Domingo will Fear the Walking Dead for AMC

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Celebrated stage actor and playwright Colman Domingo, who has appeared in such films as SELMA, LEE DANIELS' THE BUTLER, and LINCOLN, has joined the cast of AMC's FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, the companion series to their massive hit THE WALKING DEAD.

Domingo will be playing a character named Strand, described as "a smart and sophisticated man with a mysterious past".

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD will differentiate itself from its predecessor with an urban setting (Los Angeles) and by occurring earlier in the zombie outbreak. There is also no comic book guideline for this series to follow.

In addition to Domingo, the series' cast includes Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Lorenzo James Henrie, Sandrine Holt, Maestro Harrell, and Alycia Debnam-Carey.

Dave Erickson, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, and THE WALKING DEAD creator Robert Kirkman are serving as executive producers.

Like THE WALKING DEAD, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD will be starting off with a first season of just six episodes. The show is expected to premiere on AMC this summer, with a second season having already been ordered and set to air in 2016.

As a fan of THE WALKING DEAD, I'm looking forward to seeing what stories this show will be telling in that world, and to finding out how this different group of characters will handle the situation.
