Well since Nu Image/Millennium Films have made a deal with the WGA, CONAN has been put back on track. Fresh off the news Ammon dropped last month that Lionsgate was going to be distributing this bad boy.
Writers Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are hard at work on the script as we speak. Also hard at work are the producers for CONAN, who are currently in a search of someone to helm the flick.
Last month I told you how Xavier Gens was the first name to jump into the fray. IGN is throwing two more names into the mix, all confirmed. Apparently Rob Zombie and Neil Marshall have both thrown their hats into the mix, both having met with producers over the open director spot.
All three of these guys have had their hand in the genre, more notably Zombie and Marshall. Hard to picture Zombie signing on with his T-REX thing and his long awaited HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO, both projects he’s currently working on. Throwing in a big film like CONAN would be a lot.
So what kind of direction are the studios going for with CONAN and all these genre directors? Interesting huh? IGN’s insider stresses the fact that no director will be hired until the script is finished, so we’re only reporting on meetings for now.
Of course we’ll keep you all updated in the hunt to find a CONAN director.
