Cool Horror Gear: Fright Rags celebrates 30 years of Day of the Dead

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

As a horror fan, I have a lot of horror movies that I like, plenty that I love, and then there are a select few that I can get very geek-out passionate about. Among those special films that really connect with me and work for me on every level are George A. Romero's original Dead trilogy; NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, DAWN OF THE DEAD, and DAY OF THE DEAD.

Oddly, DAWN and DAY were not widely availabe in the area I grew up in, so I didn't get a chance to see them until around 1995, at which time DAY was already ten years old. But I have dearly loved those movies ever since those first viewings, and for a while, I'd say until the mid-2000s, loving DAY OF THE DEAD didn't seem to be a popular stance to take. It tended to be looked down upon as a lesser entry, a letdown from what came before. I have been very glad to see DAY get re-evaluated over the years, getting to the point now where it is finally being embraced as the wonderful classic that it is.

2015 is the 30th anniversary of DAY OF THE DEAD's release, and to mark the occasion Fright Rags has put together a line of five shirts celebrating the film and featuring artwork by Steve Holliday, Francis Minoza, Chris Lovell, Paul Shipper, and Dave Moscati.

If you're a fan of DAY OF THE DEAD like I am and you want to wear any or all of these shirts proudly, head over to Fright Rags and put in an order. But do it quickly, because quantities are limited and they may sell out soon.
