Cool Horror Videos: Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook short, Monster

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

One of the most buzzed-about horror films in quite some time is Jennifer Kent’s THE BABADOOK, an intense and unsettling chiller about a frazzled mother, her hyperactive son and the titular creature that may or may not be haunting them. It’s a genuinely unnerving experience, a tremendously well-made one at that, and Ms. Kent is already one of the most exciting new names to come along in this genre – or any other – in a while.

But before you meet THE BABADOOK, you might want to take a peek at MONSTER, the short Kent made two years ago that helped spawn the feature film version. All things considered it’s very close to the feature, in spirit and story, and it should serve as a nice appetizer before the main course.

THE BABADOOK opens today, October 24th, in the UK. It creeps into the U.S. on November 28th.
