If you are a massive fan of the EVIL DEAD movies like me, you will be excited to learn that production has officially begun on the Bruce Campbell-led Starz series ASH VS EVIL DEAD. The ten episode debut season of the horror series will air later this year and we now have details on the plot and full cast for the show.
ASH VS EVIL DEAD will also feature Lucy Lawless as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
On top of that, our very own Eric Walkuski got the scoop on the new series which includes the fact that the series will serve as a sequel to EVIL DEAD 2 and will not directly reference ARMY OF DARKNESS, which seems odd to me. Bruce Campbell will sport the iconic chainsaw Ash has wielded in the trilogy of films and there will be all new types of Deadites on display. Sam Raimi is directing the pilot which he co-wrote with Ivan Raimi, which means it should be true to the style and tone of the original movies. Raimi himself doesn't rule out the possibility of a sequel to 2013's EVIL DEAD reboot and the possibility of even seeing Ash on the big screen again.
