Who doesn’t love a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl? She’s like a unicorn. Film critic, Nathan Rabin first coined the term describing the stock character as, “that bubbly, shallow cinematic creature that exists solely in the fevered imaginations of sensitive writer-directors to teach broodingly soulful young men to embrace life and its infinite mysteries and adventures.” While I feel like there are women like that out there, they also have their own flaws– hence the “unicorn” remark.
