When it came time to writing a cantina song for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, John Williams bowed out (been there, done that) and left the writing duties up to J.J. Abrams. As it happens, Abrams had just seen Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, and hit up the artist to see if he would like to collaborate on the song you'd hear during the visit to Maz Kanata's castle.
