There are many cool things to come out of SXSW, but this is one that might be overlooked. It’s a film bumper, and for those not familiar with the concept, they’re essentially short films that play before the actual movies in place of trailers.
There are many cool ones, but one of the best I’ve seen is this effort from Joe Nicolosi. He did a few shorts for the festival, but his story of Mario as a lovelorn plumber with a drug probably is easily his best.

I’ve seen Mario’s story told in a few “real life” style videos, but this is one of the better ones. It reveals what we all suspected, that Mario is really on a mushroom fueled trip which is why all this weird shit keeps going on like talking turtles and magic pipes. Check it out below.
