Slow-motion has been used and over-used to great effect in the realm of cinema. It’s a powerful tool that allows the viewer to be enveloped by a moment, or to simply relish in delicious eye candy. Almost everything looks cool in slow motion, and Leigh Singer took the time to edit together a myriad of great scenes showcasing how slow-motion is used and even shots that mimic each other.

Check it out:

It occurred to me that one thing I really love about Star Wars is that they don’t use slow-motion for any of the fight scenes (with the exception of the premonition in the cave in EMPIRE). I wonder if J.J. Abrams will change that with his upcoming feature. Regardless, slow-motion has been and will continue to be used to amplify scenes of action and drama. Bring it on!

Not everything looks better in slow-motion.
