I pride myself in instilling my geeky knowledge in my two sons. I enjoy showing them STAR WARS, superheroes, video games, and movies. It is fun sharing something with my children that my father shared with me at that age. There is something special in keeping the nerd alive for generations to come. What does tend to fall by the wayside is that many consider comics and superheroes to be the realm of boys only. There are countless girls, many of whom visit or work on this website, who pride themselves in being movie fans, geeks, nerds, and above all, girls.
One example of gender not being biased when it comes to comics is this video featuring a father and daughter sharing their knowledge of the Marvel universe as Mom records on her phone. You can hear the mother shocked at how much her daughter knows and I was impressed myself. I think my six year old would know a lot of the characters this kid does, but they wouldn’t be able to name the stones in the Infinity Gauntlet, let alone their color. And there is Dad mentioning Thanos and the Dark Surfer as readily as most parents would be discussing Thomas the Tank Engine or My Little Pony.
Let this video show that the Geeks and Nerds are multiplying because when it comes to survival of the fittest, we know how to survive a zombie apocalypse. Take that exercise and nutrition!
