It feels weird that G.I. JOE: RETALIATION still has not been released yet. You never get a good vibe from a movie that is delayed for almost a year. It makes you wonder why they can’t get something as simple as G.I. JOE right for the big screen.

As a kid, G.I. JOE was a go-to cartoon for me. I had the toys and had the animated movie on VHS until the tape wore out. How can you mess it up? Well, G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA showed us how: take something designed for kids and try way too hard to make it sexy and violent. I have nothing against sexy or violent but I have a problem when it looks like it was made by amateurs.

This fan film, G.I. JOE: INITIATE was made by amateurs but clearly shows the love for the characters and story that we have missed from the studio films. If any Paramount executives are reading this, take a look at this movie. A bunch of fans made this and it exudes more charm and wit than what Stephen Sommers or John Chu have brought to the table. It is simple and to the point. Joes vs Cobras. What else do you need?
