Last Updated on August 2, 2021

So this is exciting! Seems that Courteney Cox is returning as intrepid reporter Gail Weathers for the upcoming SCREAM sequel! She will be joining  previously cast David Arquette as Sheriff Dewey.

The filmmakers – Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence (READY OR NOT) – tell Deadline:

We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney. We’re absolute mega fans of her work and we’re so excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!

The directors have also reportedly talked with Neve Campbell about returning as main character Sidney Prescott as well, but no official announcement about her involvement yet.

Meanwhile, SCREAM 5 is scheduled for 2021. We'll keep you updated when an official date is announced!

So what do you guys think? Excited for a new SCREAM? And if not, does the inclusion of Cox change your mind? Either way, sound off below!
