Word is David Cronenberg’s THE BROOD is getting remade. Now the synopsis for the original sounds a bit tapped, but it’s a David Cronenberg film, so it’s expected (and accepted). According to IMDB, the synopsis for the original is:

A husband tries to uncover a shady psychiatrist’s therapy techniques on his institutionalized wife, while a series of brutal attacks committed by a brood of mutant children coincides with the husband’s investigation. It came out in 1979 and was written and directed by Cronenberg. It starred Oliver Reed, Samantha Eggar, Art Hindle, Henry Beckman, Nuala Fitzgerald, Cindy Hinds, and Susan Hogan.

News coming in from Variety reports that Spyglass Entertainment has the rights to the classic and have hired Cory Goodman to write the script. Now Goodman’s take on the film is, according to Variety: the psychological/supernatural thriller centers on a woman who undergoes medical treatment that causes her inner rage to physically manifest itself. So take it for what you want. Goodman’s previous works include PRIEST and KUNG FU. We’ll keep you updated on any news for THE BROOD.
