STX has recently emerged as the victor of a bidding war for THE ICE BENEATH HER, a psychological crime-thriller which has Star Wars and MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS breakout actress Daisy Ridley in negotiations to star.
According to Deadline, the story revolves around a detective and psychological profiler who work to solve the case after a young woman is found beheaded in the home of a prominent businessman. The investigation quickly evolves into a race against time. The concept is based on Camilla Grebe’s bestselling 2015 novel, which readers have said presents a tone not unlike Gone Girl and The Girl On The Train.
Producing THE ICE BENEATH HER is AMERICAN SNIPER and SPACE COWBOYS producer Andrew Lazar, with filmmaker trio Radio Silence (READY OR NOT) attached to direct and also produce. Caitlin Parrish, who's recent work includes writing the CW's SUPERGIRL as well as THE RED LINE, will be in charge of the book's screen apatation. While securing Ridley for the lead role would certainly make THE ICE BENEATH HER a project to watch, we also have it on good authority that other notble actors are circling the project for prominent roles.
