Deadpool 2 concept art reveals more comics-accurate look for Juggernaut

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It goes without saying that a lot of comic book fans lost their sh*t upon learning that the classic X-Men villain Juggernaut would be making an appearance in DEADPOOL 2. After all, Fox had already fooled us once when they included the big galoot in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, in which Juggs was played by Vinnie Jones, to alarmingly eye-rolling effect. "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" Yeah, remember that old chestnut? Ugh. Anyway, not only was it a pleasant surprise to see Juggernaut back on the big screen, but it was also a thrill to see him represented in the way that the comic gods intended – as a hulking, angry mother … you get my point.

Recently, artist Alexander Lozano unveiled concept art for the character, which features a more gritty, comics-accurate look for the character. Oh sure, it was quite cool to see the big guy rocking his unique helmet and canary yellow prison attire, but us cinephiles are people of variety, and alternative styles are always welcome. As you can see in the image below, Lozano first had Juggs sporting his signature gauntlets and rust-brown coloring. You can even see some of the wire work attached to the character's hip, which I suppose would keep our man's pants from falling down or some such. The look is quite fierce, and something that I'm sure X-Men fans would have loved to see included in the final product.

You can take a look at Lozano's early design below:
