Deadpool is the perfect vessel for all kinds of crossovers and fan service. The original comic barely even acknowledged the fourth wall, as the titular character would constantly reference other Marvel characters while being completely self-aware of his existence within the paneled boxes. When Deadpool finally came to the movies, there were jokes abound with Hugh Jackman jabs and even some appearances of popular X-Men characters. Although the most anticipated element of Deadpool 3 is the return of Jackman as Logan, Disney’s acquirement of Fox and all the Marvel characters also opens doors for many, many more possibilities.

In the usual internet fashion, rumors caught fire and there have been talks of more Fox crossover characters played by their past actors. Recently, Shawn Levy, who is directing this ambitious installment of Deadpool 3, spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the iconic costume that Wolverine will finally be wearing and he addressed some of the rumors being tossed around. According to ScreenRant, Levy explained, “The rumors of actors, singers, sports stars who are all apparently in Deadpool 3 are fabulous. If all I read was the internet, I would have the greatest cast ever assembled in the history of cinema, so I’ll simply say that some of those rumors are true, and some of them aren’t.”

The recent slew of Marvel projects have been running wild with unexpected cameos that have expanded well beyond its established universe. In the past, there would be big reveals of characters from the other films within the continuity, but the multiverse angle and the right rights being placed in the right hands, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been able to feature past series actors, as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featuring alternate universe versions of characters which utilize the ones previously owned by Fox.

Levy would expound that the great resource of “nerdiest nerds” to aid him in some of the Wolverine comic-accurate developments for Deadpool 3. “Like the rest of the world, I’ve waited two decades to see Wolverine in a whole movie with Deadpool, and I don’t know if this is our last shot at Wolverine on screen, so I was going to make goddamned sure we get the old yellow and blue just once, and that we get it right.” He added, “It also helps that I’m making this movie within the MCU, so I have access to an army of the nerdiest nerds available to a Marvel project.”
