Now that his futuristic fighting robot romp REAL STEEL is out of the way director Shawn Levy can concentrate on more pressing matters – like the FRANKENSTEIN flick he’s doing for Fox! We learned that the director would be tackling the latest adaptation of the classic tale earlier this Summer and have yet to hear anything out of the filmmaker regarding the project.

Now considering he had another film about to hit theaters I’d say thats a good thing. But now that REAL STEEL is beating up the box office I’d say it’s about time Levy look to his future, don’t you? The guys over at Complex seem to agree because they recently had a chance to chat with Levy and quickly asked the director what the deal was with FRANKENSTEIN. Check out his response:

“It’s an amazing script and, yes, I am attached to direct it. That’s true, and if I can get the right pairing of two young guys I’ll make it. It’s a radical retelling of the legend, and the reason that the casting is so critical is that, though it is still very much a monster movie and a genre piece, it really focuses on the friendship and relationship and betrayals between Victor Frankenstein and Igor, who is at once his friend and assistant, all set against this discovery of a science that might change human science forever. So if I can cast it to my liking I will be making it. If I make it I’m gonna make it next year.”

So it seems Levy is still iffy on the whole thing. And this whole ‘Victor Frankenstein and Igor’ deal? What’s up with that?

What says you guys? You liking the direction Levy is going with his retelling of FRANKENSTEIN? How about casting? Since it’s such a big deal who would you like to see as the Doctor and his assitant? Spit some bullets below on this whole ordeal and let us know what you think as we wait for more updates on the long-awaited FRANKENSTEIN project.
