Disney lands possible new franchise with wacky hotel series Floors

JoBloJoBlo

Disney loves a good franchise and has a pretty good sense when it comes to finding the next one to work. They might have found it with Patrick Carman‘s children’s book series, “Floors”. I don’t know how it will stand next to Marvel Studios, PIRATE OF THE CARIBBEAN and FROZEN but it sounds pretty fun to me. Jason Filardi (17 AGAIN, BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE) pitched the series to Disney and will write the script. Understandably I had never heard of the series, but its official description leads me to believe it’s a combination of a lot of childhood memories.

Here’s the official description:

Charlie had his chocolate factory. Stanley Yelnats had his holes. Leo has the wacky, amazing Whippet Hotel. The Whippet Hotel is a strange place full of strange and mysterious people. Each floor has its own quirks and secrets. Leo should know most of them; he is the maintenance man’s son, after all. But a whole lot more mystery gets thrown his way when a series of cryptic boxes are left for him…boxes that lead him to hidden floors, strange puzzles, and unexpected alliances. Leo had better be quick on his feet, because the fate of the building he loves is at stake…and so is Leo’s own future!

With three books in the series already out, it’s already packaged as a potential franchise winner for Disney. I haven’t seen a good live-action kid’s adventure for a long time it seems, I don’t know what route they will take with this one, animated or live, but I’m intrigued.

Here’s a short video from author Patrick Carman describing the series; check out this YouTube Channel and official website for some other goodies.
