Disney gave fans a treat this morning with the first official poster for Cruella, their new crime comedy film based on the character Cruella de Vil, introduced in Walt Disney's 1961 animated film 101 Dalmations. The unveiling of the poster also came with the news that we will be getting the first trailer tomorrow!

Disney took to their official Twitter page to debut the poster which features star Emma Stone channeling the character in full-on black & white glory. It's honestly a pretty solid piece of key art and displays that Stone will have no problem embodying the live-action version of the character. The caption of Twitter reads "Hello, Cruel World. New Trailer Tomorrow." You can check out the Twitter post below!

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Cruella is set in 1970s London and finds young fashion designer Estella de Vil (Emma Stone) becoming obsessed with dogs' skins, especially Dalmations until she eventually becomes a ruthless and terrifying legend known as Cruella. The film also stars Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, and Mark Strong. Glenn Close, who played the titular character in the 1996 live-action remake and its sequel, is on board as an executive producer.

Cruella was originally slated for release on December 23, 2020, but was delayed until May 28, 2021. This remains the release date as of this writing and while a theatrical release is still being promoted, there are some reports that the film could see a similar release as Mulan with a theatrical debut as well as on Disney+ via streaming for a premium fee.
