Djimon Hounsou knows the history of Wayward Pines

Replacing Keanu Reeves in SPEED 2: CRUISE CONTROL didn't go so well for Jason Patric, but he should have a better time replacing Matt Dillon as the lead in the second season of the Fox TV series Wayward Pines.

The new season picks up after the events of the first season with the residents of Wayward Pines battling against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation. Dr. Theo Yedlin (Patric) — a new resident of Wayward Pines — awakens from suspended animation and finds himself in the middle of this rebellion, as he tries to understand what Wayward Pines really is and help preserve the endangered human race.

Patric has been joined in the cast by Djimon Hounsou, who'll be playing a character who could be quite helpful to a person who just got out of suspended animation, Wayward Pines "original resident" CJ Mitchum, who serves as "a historian for the town with extensive knowledge of its complex origins. He’s also the one person who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited."

Oscar nominated for his roles in BLOOD DIAMOND and IN AMERICA, Hounsou has also appeared in such films as FURIOUS 7, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, DEEP RISING, and STARGATE.

Like the first season, season two of Wayward Pines is set to run for ten episodes. It's expected to start airing on Fox this summer.

The first season passed me by completely, but the more I hear about it, the more I want to catch up on it.
