Don Mancini to host a Child’s Play watch party on Twitter

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There has been a steady stream of social media watch parties during the COVID-19 lockdown, and there's another cool one coming up later this week: Chucky fans are encouraged to gather together on Twitter this Thursday, May 21st, at 8pm Eastern for a CHILD'S PLAY watch party hosted by screenwriter Don Mancini, in association with @SYFYWIRE.

Mancini wrote the initial script for CHILD'S PLAY, which was later rewritten by John Lafia and director Tom Holland. Mancini has gone on to write every film in the CHILD'S PLAY / CHUCKY franchise (except for the remake), and has directed SEED OF CHUCKY, CURSE OF CHUCKY, and CULT OF CHUCKY.

Fans will be able to interact with Mancini and each other while watching the original 1988 CHILD'S PLAY by using the hashtag #SYFYWIRErewind.

I haven't participated in any of the recent watch parties, but have looked over some hashtags after they were finished and it appears that people are really enjoying these events. I'm sure this CHILD'S PLAY watch party will be fun as well.

The original CHILD'S PLAY has the following synopsis:

Nobody believes 6-year-old Andy Barclay when he says that “Chucky”, his new birthday doll, is alive. And when Andy’s babysitter is violently pushed out the window to her death, the boy tells his mother and the detective the simple truth – “Chucky did it.” In this "clever, playful thriller" (New York Times), voodoo and terror meet when an innocent-looking doll is inhabited by the soul of a killer who wasn't ready to die.  Only young Andy realizes that Chucky, who promises to be his "friend to the end," is responsible for the ensuing rampage of gruesome murders.  But the real terror takes hold when the deranged doll becomes determined to transfer his evil spirit to a living human being!

Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, Alex Vincent, and Brad Dourif star.

The 7-film Chucky franchise collection can be purchased at THIS LINK.
