Producer Adi Shankar is set to make his directorial debut with a dark superhero drama for HBO titled Gods and Secrets. Besides producing feature films like DREDD, LONE SURVIVOR and KILLING THEM SOFTLY, Shankar was also behind the "Bootleg Universe" shorts, such as The Punisher: Dirty Laundry (video below), Venom: Truth in Journalism, and Power/Rangers.

Gods and Secrets has been described as being similar to Alan Moore's Watchmen, and will "explore the darker ramifications of a world with superheroes, both on the people they protect, and the heroes themselves." Shankar is co-directing the series with longtime collaborator Stewart Yost, with a cast featuring the likes of Denise Richards, Jane Seymour, Kellan Lutz, Andy Milonakis, wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, Jackson Rathbone, and Sharni Vinson.

Tragedy has struck the Guardians of Justice, and in its aftermath secrets are revealed, lives are changed, and the war to end all wars begins. Death, secrets, and lies threaten to tear the Guardians of Justice apart, and the world with them.

There's no details on when Gods and Secrets might air, but it will likely premiere on HBO sometime next year. Are you interested in checking the series out?
