Dungeons & Dragons cast adds Rege-Jean Page from Bridgerton

Bridgerton breakout Rege-Jean Page is going from Duke to Dragon Slayer now that he's joining the cast of Dungeons & Dragons. While we can only hope he doesn't bang any supernatural beings, you never know what he could be down for in a fantastic realm while armed with his debonair good looks and a twelve-sided die.

Sources close to the film say that Page is currently rolling stats for a lead role in Hasbro and Paramount's high fantasy feature. He'll be joining previously announced stars Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Michelle Rodriguez (Resident EvilFast & Furious 9), and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: DominionAll the Bright Places) in the action-adventure epic, which is based on Hasbro’s popular game franchise from Wizards of the Coast. Johnathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will direct and write the script, which is based on a draft by Michael Gilio.

Plot details are being kept in a Bag of Holding at the moment, though one can surely expect the film to revolve around some grand quest for enchanted treasure alongside the slaying of dragons, wraiths, and drunken townsfolk whose only purpose is to offer vital information before kicking the bucket.

While this new iteration of Dungeons & Dragons is shaping up to have some serious potential, we should never forget the abysmal original film from 2000 featuring Justin Whalin and Marlon Wayans. A quality D&D doesn't have a very high bar to clear but here's hoping this new take is closer to Lord of the Rings rather than In The Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale.
