Duplass’ brothers comedy The Do-Deca-Pentathlon gets a release date

If you have not seen a Duplass brothers film, you are missing out on indie gold.  The siblings have been the driving force behind the mumblecore subgenre of independent film.  They have been responsible for THE PUFFY CHAIR, BAGHEAD, CYRUS, and JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME.

Fox Searchlight picked up their latest titled THE DO-DECA-PENTATHLON.  The film is described as the hilarious story of two grown brothers who rekindle their uber-competitive childhood sporting event, The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, over a weekend family reunion in order to finally determine the ultimate winner. When the rest of the family is disrupted by the fierce competition of their unfinished business, the brothers must hide their efforts in order to complete the event… once and for all.

Mark Duplass’ is one of the stars of FX’s THE LEAGUE, a personal favorite of mine.  I definitely dig the very improved, low budget feel for his films.  Mark is also married to fellow indie filmmaker and LEAGUE co-star Katie Aselton, whose BLACK ROCK was picked up at Sundance earlier this year.  It also doesn’t hurt that she is so easy on the eyes.

THE DO-DECA-PENTATHLON is set for release in June 2012.
