Dust: Sarah Paulson to star in Hulu Original horror thriller

Sarah Paulson has signed on to star in the horror thriller Dust, which will be released as a Hulu Original in the United States. Coming to us from Searchlight Pictures, Dust is set to start filming in late August with William Joines and Karrie Crouse on board to direct. This will be the feature directorial debut for both of them.

Crouse wrote the screenplay for Dust, which will tell the story of

a woman who is trapped by increasingly perilous dust storms and is haunted by her past encounters with a threatening presence and takes extraordinary measures to protect her family.

Paulson has previously been in the Searchlight movies 12 Years a Slave and Martha Marcy May Marlene. Searchlight Presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield told Deadline, “Sarah is an extraordinary artist and we are thrilled to be working with her again.”

Alix Madigan and Lucas Joaquin are producing Dust, with Paulson serving as executive producer. Searchlight Production heads DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas are overseeing the project with the company’s Director of Development Zahra Phillips.

In addition to the movies mentioned above, Paulson’s credits include the TV shows American Gothic, Deadwood, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, American Crime Story, and Ratched, as well as the movies The Other Sister, What Women Want, Down with Love, Serenity, The Notorious Bettie Page, The Spirit, Mud, Ocean’s Eight, Bird Box, Glass, and Run (which was also released as a Hulu Original). Paulson may be best known for the roles on the series American Horror Story, where she has played a different character in almost every season of the show. She also made her directorial debut with an episode of American Horror Story a few years ago.
