Edward Norton ignores Fight Club rules in hilarious James Corden video

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It's hard to believe that two decades have passed since David Fincher's seminal work FIGHT CLUB, starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, punched its way into theaters. Since then all three Hollywood titans have gone on to new and exciting work. Unfortunately, some fans just want to live in the past as this skit from The Late Late Show demonstrates. In it, host James Corden lures guest Edward Norton down an alley dressed a lot like Tyler Durden and, well, you can probably guess what happens next:

I have to say this was pretty solid. What makes the video is Norton's continued reluctance to even engage in a makeshift fight club involving The Late Late Show staff. All he wanted to do was promote MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN. (You can check out Chris Bumbray's review here.) I loved how Corden berated his staff for not being in shape. Poor Tim. Norton even takes a little dig at what some perceive is toxic masculinity in FIGHT CLUB saying, "I think we've absorbed that there's better ways of expressing our masculinity."

What had me rolling though was when Corden starts making fun of Norton's movies with lame puns (I giggled at TURDMAN) and Norton implies he's nothing without his writers. Give credit to Corden though, he knew what would get Norton's goat and eventually the notoriously difficult to work with actor punches him in the face. Also nice touch playing The Pixies "Where Is My Mind" as the skit ends.

Edward Norton can next be seen in MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN which opens in theaters tomorrow.
