Elizabeth Lail downloads a death-predicting app in Countdown

Elizabeth Lail You

Viewers may know actress Elizabeth Lail from playing Princess Anna / Joan on ten episodes of the ABC series Once Upon a Time, or from when she played Amy Hughes on ten episodes of the Freeform series Dead of Summer, or from her role as Guinevere Beck on ten episodes of the Lifetime series You, but her latest gig won't be on ten episodes of television. Lail has signed on to star in the STX Films horror movie COUNTDOWN.

Written by Justin Dec, who will also be directing the film, COUNTDOWN has a very modern plot. Lail's character is

a young nurse who downloads an app that claims to predict exactly when a person is going to die. When it tells her she only has three days to live, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out, all while a mysterious figure haunts her.

If an app told me when I was going to die it wouldn't be the start of an intense thriller story. I wouldn't think anything of it. How does an app have psychic abilities? I guess we'll have to wait to see the movie to find out why an app's death prediction should be trusted.

COUNTDOWN is being produced by Sean Anders, John Morris, John Rickard, and Zack Schiller. Drew Simon and Catherine Hagedorn are overseeing the project for STX.

STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson had this to say about COUNTDOWN and Lail's casting:

Elizabeth Lail is an exciting young actress whose breakout performance in the wildly popular psychological thriller ‘You’ was a breath of fresh air. ‘Countdown’ is a wholly original, scary, and fun script, and we’re thrilled to have found the perfect lead to bring this story to life for audiences around the world."

We'll keep you updated as COUNTDOWN continues to move forward.
