End of the Road: Queen Latifah’s Netflix thriller earns R rating for strong bloody violence

The Netflix streaming service has yet to announce a premiere date for End of the Road, a thriller starring Queen Latifah (The Equalizer), but that information should be coming along soon now, because the film has just earned its rating from the Motion Picture Association. End of the Road has been given an R rating for “some strong/bloody
violence, drug use, sexual content, and language
“. This movie hadn’t caught my attention before the rating announcement, but now it’s sounding interesting to me.

Directed by Millicent Shelton, who was at the helm of the 1998 comedy Ride and has earned a staggering number of TV directing credits, End of the Road was written by Christopher J. Moore (House of Payne) and David Loughery (Passenger 57). Queen Latifah takes on the role of

Brenda, a recent widow who, after losing her job, drives her family cross-country to start a new life. In the New Mexico desert, cut off from help, they must learn to fight back when they become the targets of a mysterious killer.

Also in the cast are Chris “Ludacris” Bridges (F9), Beau Bridges (The Fabulous Baker Boys), Jesse Luken (The Guest), Shaun Dixon (Velvet Jesus), Frances Lee McCain (Gremlins), Mychala Lee (Truth Be Told), Keith Jardine (Inherent Vice), Tabatha Shaun (Better Call Saul), Travis Hammer (Godless), Amie MacKenzie (MacGruber), Efrain Villa (Half Brothers), Phuong Kubacki (Blue Bloods), Micah McNeil (Daybreak), Jasper Keen (Walker), Tim Stafford (Criminal Minds), Rob Estrada (Cry Macho), and J. Nathan Simmons (Chambers).
