If you saw Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, director Adam Robitel’s sequel to his 2019 horror-thriller Escape Room (watch it HERE), during its theatrical run and felt it was lacking something, maybe you’ll get more enjoyment out of watching the digital release that’s scheduled for September 21st, or the DVD and Blu-ray releases that will follow on October 5th. (Pre-order a copy at THIS LINK.) That’s because the film is coming to home video with a 25 minute extended cut that deepens the story, has a different ending and beginning, and features the character played by Orphan’s Isabelle Fuhrman, who didn’t make it into the theatrical cut.

It will be interesting to see if this extended cut will substantially improve Escape Room: Tournament of Champions‘ reputation. The theatrical cut of the movie didn’t go over well here on the JoBlo Network; Eric Walkuski gave it a 4/10 review, while JimmyO gave it a 5/10.

Scripted by Will Honley, Oren Uziel, Maria Melnik, and Daniel Tuch from a story by Honley, Christine Lavaf, and Fritz Bohm, the film follows

six people who find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive… and discovering they’ve all played the game before.

The cast includes Indya Moore, Holland Roden, Isabelle Fuhrman (depending on which cut you watch), Carlito Olivero, Thomas Cocquerel, James Frain, and returning Escape Room stars Taylor Russell and Logan Miller.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions was produced by Neal H. Moritz. Robitel served as executive producer alongside Karina Rahardja and Philip Waley.

I didn’t go see the movie during its time in theatres, and it seems like I made a good choice. I will definitely be checking it out at home, though.

The Wrap has a clip with Fuhrman’s character in it.
