INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 debuts in theaters today and will try to avoid the curse of the threequel. While it is hard enough to make a quality sequel, the third movie in a franchise is usually either really good or really, really bad. Leigh Whannell tries to keep up the momentum started by his friend James Wan, but can he do it?

Here is our ranking of the best threequels of all time. We tried to exclude any films that were either the second half of a second movie or a chapter in a long single story split in thirds (ahem, LORD OF THE RINGS).
