Exclusive Interview: Salem creators Adam Simon and Brannon Braga

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

On April 5, WGN America will premiere the second season of its horror-drama Salem. Set in 17th century colonial Massachusetts, Salem brings you the real story behind the infamous witch trials. In Salem, witches are real, and they’re behind it all.

Last month, I was afforded the opportunity to visit the set of the show in Louisiana and talk to its primary cast and crew. Adam Simon and Brannon Braga are the series’s creators and show-runners, the most powerful men in Salem, if you will. Braga is an old pro at this, having worked on shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Voyager (sensing a pattern here?), but the first season of Salem was Simon’s first job on a television series (though he has several movie credits, such as HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT and CARNOSAUR).

In the below interviews, I speak to both Braga and Simon about what can be expected in Season Two of Salem, their favorite characters to write and explosive scenes we should keep an eye out for!
