It’s a good time to be Andrew Garfield! The actor has two shots at awards season glory with his performances in The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Tick, Tick…Boom! and now some respect is being put on his name as Peter Parker/Spider-Man after his fan-favorite return in this weekend’s record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home. Due to his appearance in the film, fans are now calling for him to return as the character as Amazing Spider-Man 3 trends on Twitter.

The reason for the trends really goes beyond his appearance in No Way Home. It’s no secret that Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man trilogy was cut short after the polarizing response to and poor performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. As with many things, time can change perspective and ComicBook.com was quick to notice fans making the call. The website states, “Andrew Garfield stole many scenes of Spider-Man: No Way Home with his tragicomic (and meta) performance as ‘Peter 3’. After getting a reminder of everything that Andrew Garfield can be as Spider-Man, Marvel fans now want Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3.” After searching Twitter, you can find a lot of support for the movement with many people thinking it’s similar to the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut cry which ultimately led to that film getting released. I’m not sure we NEED The Amazing Spider-Man 3 but I love the Andrew Garfield support. Besides Tom Holland, he’s my favorite Spider-Man and definitely stole his scenes in No Way Home. This is just a small sample of support that Andrew Garfield is getting from fans who want him to have his chance to finish his trilogy. I normally don’t support movements like this but I have to say that my personal highlight of No Way Home was watching Garfield’s Peter Parker and his redemption of sorts. It was a beautiful thing to watch as the film figured out a way to celebrate all three versions of the character but this was the respect that Garfield didn’t necessarily see before from the masses and it’s cool to see it happening now.

Do YOU support Andrew Garfield returning for The Amazing Spider-Man 3?
