We're less than two months away from the release of WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, director Matt Reeves' end to the new APES trilogy that began with RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and continued with DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, and as the release date draws near we are reaching the end of one stage of the marketing.

Yesterday, a new promo for the film arrived online with a special treat for fans of the franchise – it was narrated by the late Charlton Heston, star of the original 1968 PLANET OF THE APES. As Heston paraphrases William Faulkner's refusal to accept the end of man, we're shown glimpses of human progress – building up to the species' potential destruction now that they're at war with super-intelligent apes.

The promo promised that the final trailer would be dropping today, and it has. The promo and trailer can both be seen below.

Directed by Reeves from a screenplay he wrote with Mark Bomback, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES has the following synopsis:

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel.  After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind.  As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer, and Terry Notary star.

WAR is looking really incredible, with this final trailer giving us a preview of what appears to be a thrilling, emotionally engaging, and jaw-droppingly impressive film. We'll see how it turns out when the movie reaches theatres on July 14th, but right now my hopes are very high.
