Final trailer for In the Heart of the Sea presents one very pissed off whale

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There are far too few maritime adventures nowadays for my liking, but thankfully Ron Howard's IN THE HEART OF THE SEA will be along soon to give us a welcome dose of daring exploits on the high seas. Based upon the real-life maritime disaster which would inspire Herman Melville's "Moby-Dick", IN THE HEART OF THE SEA tells the story of the crew of the New England whaling ship Essex as they struggle to survive an assault by a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance.

A final trailer for the Chris Hemsworth starring film has been release, check it out below!

While it certainly feels as though that trailer may have given just a little too much away, I still feel pumped about Ron Howard's latest. It's got a strong cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Michelle Fairley, Tom Holland, Benjamin Walker, Brendan Gleeson, and Ben Whishaw, and the visuals we've seen so far hint at an epic battle of man vs. nature.  IN THE HEART OF THE SEA was originally slated to open this March, but Warner Bros. pushed the film back to December, possibly to take advantage of of the prestige of the awards season. I'll take that as a good sign.

IN THE HEART OF THE SEA will open in theaters on December 11, 2015.
