A new episode of the WTF Really Happened to This Horror Movie? video series has just been released, and in this one we’re looking into the true story of a movie that scared and scarred a lot of viewers when they caught it on cable in the early ’90s, the alien abduction film Fire in the Sky (watch it HERE). WTF Really Happened to This Horror Movie? is sort of a spin-off from our show WTF Happened to This Horror Movie. WTF Really Happened to This Horror Movie? dives into movies that were based on or “inspired by” true stories, real people, and actual historical events so we can try to separate fact from fiction.
Directed by Robert Lieberman from a screenplay by Tracy Tormé (based on the book The Walton Experience by Travis Walton), Fire in the Sky has the following synopsis:
In 1975, a group of five men are driving home after working in a forest when they see a mysterious light. Intrigued, Travis Walton leaves the truck — only to be sucked up by a flying saucer. The other four men report the strange event, but they are skeptically interrogated by Lt. Frank Watters, who suspects that murder is behind Walton’s disappearance. When Walton reappears five days later, his story of alien abduction is met with disbelief.
The film stars D. B. Sweeney, Robert Patrick, Craig Sheffer, Peter Berg, James Garner, Henry Thomas, Bradley Gregg, Kathleen Wilhoite, and Noble Willingham.
This episode of WTF Really Happened to This Horror Movie was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Mike Conway, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
