First Bohemian Rhapsody reactions praise Rami Malek’s work in average biopic

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The trailers for the rock biopic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY have been nothing short of electric, making the flick one of the most anticipated movies of the fall. Factor in what looks like a sensational performance by Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury and you have something that could also break into the Oscar race as well. Well, if you’re curious to read what people think about the movie then today is your lucky day, as several critics and journalists got to see the movie and share their thoughts on social media.

So far, there seems to be a pretty general consensus about the movie, and it’s that Malek is indeed a triumph as the rock god Mercury, and he could be a shoo-in for a ton of Best Actor awards. However, the rest of the movie may not receive as much praise. Though the reactions don’t rip the movie apart some do say it’s your average, run-of-the-mill biopic. But some critics found the whole movie fantastic, citing engaging concert scenes and, of course, Malek’s tour-de-force work.

There’s nothing wrong with a solid biopic, and it seems that with Malek in the lead role there’s room for this one to be an above-average entry. The movie comes out next month and it will probably do quite well at the box office, especially as alternate content for those not seeking animated movies or wizarding adventures.
