Anytime the great Robert Englund brings his talents to a film in our beloved genre I perk up and take notice. That's why I've been stoked to see more from director Phil Hawkins' THE LAST SHOWING, a new psychological horror tale that finds Englund playing a demented projectionist who traps two victims in a theater and manipulates them into becoming characters in a horror film being captured by CCTV cameras. Sounds like a creepy good time to me!
Today we have the first teaser for THE LAST SHOWING and while it doesn't show us too much it certainly does a solid job of selling me on wanting to see even more. Englund is upping the creep factor here which is always a pleasure to see. Can't wait till we see a full trailer for this badboy.
Last month we learned that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment had taken the UK rights to THE LAST SHOWING but we've yet to hear word on a North American deal. Hopefully we'll learn more on that front soon.
THE LAST SHOWING tells the story of a young couple, Martin (Finn Jones) and Allie (Emily Berrington), who have a night out at their local cinema. They become unwitting stars of their own horror story at the hands of Stuart (Robert Englund), a disturbed projectionist. Trapping them in the cinema complex, Stuart uses hidden cameras to play his two victims off against one another, directing them to a finale where there can only be one survivor.
