The first trailer for FREE BIRDS, the new Relativity Media has gone online, starring the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Phoehler, Dan Fogler, Lesley Nicol, George Takei, Colm Meaney, Keith David, Eddie Sotelo, Josh Lawson, and Danny Carey. The pic follows two turkey's who travel back in time to the first Thanksgiving in order to get the bird off the menu forever. Hijinks ensue. Take a look, then we'll talk some history.

Yeah, this looks pretty "meh" to me. Historically, the problem is that turkey wasn't even on the menu for the first Thanksgiving celebration. The other problem is that, now that it is, I don't want these talking turkey's to succeed in their mission. I want them to fail and be eaten. Why? Because turkey is damned delicious and I don't want my yearly roasted bird to be sacrificed because of two talking animated animals. Right, I get it, it's a kid flick. But, I couldn't look my own kid in the eye and tell him that we'd never eat a turkey after watching this in the theater, because we absolutely will. Shit, we may go see this after Thanksgiving dinner. How's that for irony?

In this hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy for audiences of all ages, directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!), two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.
