Five people are trapped together in new Jigsaw image

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Jigsaw may be long dead, but someone is still trapping the hell out of people in his name, as the latest image from JIGSAW – the eighth film in the SAW franchise – demonstrates.

Like the previous "person in a trap" shot we saw from the film, which showed actress Laura Vandervoort's character in a tough spot, the new image comes from Entertainment Weekly. This one is featured in a special issue of EW that is only available at the San Diego Comic-Con, but the magazine was kind enough to put the picture online as well. The image can be seen below, but it's tough to say who's in a tough spot here, since everyone has a bucket on their head.

Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig from a screenplay by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, JIGSAW begins with

bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

I'm not a fan of the SAW movies in general, but a quote from Michael Spierig actually has me interested in giving JIGSAW a chance. Spierig described the film as "a perfect Halloween scare-fest", saying it's "perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it." I had fun watching SAW and SAW II, but fun left the building for me quite early while watching SAW III and never returned when I watched parts IV and V, which is why I never bothered to watch VI and VII. If JIGSAW gets good word of mouth, I might have to catch up on the installments I missed so I can check this one out.

Starring Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett, Hannah Emily Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Mandela Van Peebles, Paul Braunstein, Brittany Allen, and Josiah Black, JIGSAW is scheduled to reach theatres on October 27th.
