Forgotten horror-comedy Freaks of Nature headed to Blu-ray and Digital HD

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Back in 2011, a horror-comedy spec script called THE KITCHEN SINK received a lot of attention in Hollywood: it ended up on the 2010 Black List, made a name for writer Oren Uziel (who went on to pen 22 JUMP STREET) and attracted talent like Jonah Hill to it (he was at one point supposed to direct but ultimately only produced). The film eventually got made (two years ago) and was promptly forgotten… until it suddenly popped up during Halloween in a dumping of epic proportions by distributor Sony with a new title, FREAKS OF NATURE. I can’t tell you if a single person saw it or not.

In any event, the film is now headed to Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD with a similar amount of non-hype. Sony announced today that FREAKS OF NATURE will debut February 9th.

Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Bob Odenkirk, Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Josh Fadem, Joan Cusack, Keegan-Michael Key, Ed Westwick, Denis Leary and Patton Oswalt, FREAKS OF NATURE welcomes you to…

Dillford, where three days ago, everything was peaceful and business as usual: the vampires were at the top of the social order, the zombies were at the bottom, and the humans were getting along in the middle.  But this delicate balance was ripped apart when the alien apocalypse arrived in Dillford and put an end to all the harmony. Now it’s humans vs. vampires vs. zombies in all-out, blood-sucking, brain-eating, vamp-staking mortal combat – and all of them are on the run from the aliens.  It is up to three teenagers – one human, one vampire, and one zombie – to team up, figure out how to get rid of the interplanetary visitors, and try to restore order to this “normal” little town.

The Blu-ray and DVD contains a Gag Reel, Alternate Opening and Deleted Scenes. Pre-order the Blu-ray HERE.
