One movie I’m really looking forward to is Marc Forster’s WORLD WAR Z. Why? I’m just intrigued by the premise. Sure, I don’t have to wait for the movie to find out what happens… hell I actually have Max Brooks’ book on my bookshelf waiting to be read… but just the plot alone puts this one in it’s own league. Basically what we’re looking at with WORLD WAR Z is a telling of a zombie war between the undead and the living in the form of various interviews with survivors.
You see the potential there? Now IGN recently caught up with Forster and asked him a bit about WORLD WAR Z. Here’s what Forster had to say:
“At this point, its still in development. I’m still working on the script, so I don’t know if it will be my next movie. It’s a book I really like and I think it’s a subject matter that would be really interesting to turn into a movie. What I like about the book is that it’s not a straight-forward story. It has these interesting different elements to it. It won’t be a straight-forward genre piece; it’s like a hybrid type of film so it will be very unusual.”
Hmm. I wonder what Forster is getting at with this ‘won’t be a straight-forward genre piece’ talk. We’re talking about a zombie war here… how is that not a straight-forward genre piece? Now granted, like I said I haven’t read the book yet so maybe there’s a formula for Forster to follow in that sense… I guess we’ll see. Either way WORLD WAR Z is probably going to kick some major ass with some vicious zombie action. We’ll keep you updated on all the WORLD WAR Z rumblings as we hear them. Meanwhile you can pick the book up right OVER HERE!
