Fox Searchlight to launch a new TV division of their in-demand studio

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

According to reports, Fox Searchlight, the studio that brought us such films as THE SHAPE OF WATER, THREE BILLBOARDS OVER EBBING, MISSOURI, BIRDMAN, BLACK SWAN and more, is preparing to launch their own television production division. Spearheaded by both David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, the new arm will find the newly-promoted presidents of production for film and television focusing on original content and projects based around properties hailing from Searchlight's esteemed collection of entertainment.

In talking up the new venture, Stacey Snider, chairman and CEO, Twentieth Century Fox Film stated that “The relationships that the Searchlight team forges with talent are deep and abiding. It only makes sense to extend these relationships into television so Searchlight can continue to tell great stories on every platform.” Following Snider's comments were Fox Searchlight Pictures presidents Nancy Utley and Steve Gilula, who added, “At such an exciting moment for the company, we feel it is the perfect time to provide new avenues for visionary and innovative talent as well as to recognize the contributions of David and Matthew.”

Once the new studio is set up, it will serve as the third fully owned television production company under the 21st Century Fox umbrella. And you know what that means, right? It means that we could soon be hearing about new television projects from creatives like Guillermo del Toro, and other acclaimed filmmakers whose work is associated with the Fox Searchlight label. If all goes according to plan, the new studio may very well become responsible for an exciting amount of unique content on the small screen, which can only mean good things for those of us who simply cannot get enough of the escapism that TV projects provide. Bring it on!
