Frank Grillo stars in teaser for Netflix thriller Wheelman

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It’s a shock that Frank Grillo isn’t a bigger star than he is. With a rough-hewn face, and charisma to spare, he single-handedly elevated the PURGE sequels, and even held his own as a relatively small part of the underrated UFC film WARRIOR. Maybe his next film WHEELMAN coming to Netflix will finally be his big break.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Frank Grillo (Kingdom, Captain America: Civil War) stars as the wheelman, a getaway driver thrust into a high stakes race-to-survive after a bank robbery goes terribly wrong. With a car full of money and his family on the line, the clock is ticking to figure out who double-crossed him and the only person he can trust… his thirteen-year-old daughter. All reasons to think fast and drive faster.

Oof. It sounds pretty generic – especially the whole “has to rely on his thirteen year old daughter” thing, so possibly some precocious/overly sarcastic banter is coming our way? On the other hand, that teaser was pretty tense, so maybe it won’t be so bad. We’ll see.

Meanwhile WHEELMAN will speed away onto Netflix October 20th.
