Do you remember FRIGHT NIGHT? Of course you do… well if your over the age of 18. FRIGHT NIGHT was one of the classics of the 80s. Some may say it’s one of the best vampire flicks out there. Now I haven’t seen it in a while, but I do agree it’s a classic. Anyway, the news rolling in from ShockTillYouDrop is that FRIGHT NIGHT will… wait for it… it’s a shocker!… FRIGHT NIGHT’s getting remade!! Bet you didn’t see that one coming.
Or maybe you did. Actually, if you didn’t, you have been paying no attention to the horror genre in the past years. Sony Screen Gems has dug this one up and is looking for someone to work on the script. Chances are once they get someone, it’ll be placed on the ‘pre-strike’ fast track too. Want to hear the really screwed up news? Word is, this remake will be a remake in the entire sense of the word. It’s going to be an entirely different story.
The original starred Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale, Amanda Bearse (below), Roddy McDowall, and Stephen Geoffreys. Todd Holland was the one who wrote and directed the classic. It centered on a teenage boy who discovers he’s living next door to a vampire, and when he alerts anyone who will listen, nobody beleives him. Supposedly, producer Scott Strauss wants to totally renew the FRIGHT NIGHT story, mainly adding an amusement park somehow.
Like I mentioned, because of the cult status behind this one, it will most likely be put on the fast track, so check back for any and all news on FRIGHT NIGHT.
