Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich

Through all its ups and downs, Full Moon's PUPPET MASTER series is one of my favorite franchises, so I am looking forward to PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH, an upcoming reboot that will exist in its own timeline separate from the ongoing Full Moon story.

Coming to us from di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media, THE LITTLEST REICH was directed by Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund, working from a screenplay by BONE TOMAHAWK writer/director S. Crag Zahler. The story centers on

a recently divorced young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother’s closet and plans to sell the toy at a convention in Oregon celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders.  All hell breaks loose at the Postville Lodge during the auction when a strange force animates all of the various puppets throughout the convention as they go on a bloody killing spree.

Thomas Lennon stars and is joined in the cast by Michael Paré, Jenny Pellicer, Nelson Franklin, Alex Beh, Tina Parker, Skeeta Jenkins, Charlyne Yi, and Barbara Crampton, with Udo Kier as the puppet master Toulon.

Lucky attendees of the Overlook Film Festival in New Orleans will get to see the world premiere of PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH next month. Meanwhile, I'm grasping on to the first official image from the film, which showcases a very intriguing character.

It has been confirmed that classic puppets Blade and Tunneler have gotten a fresh re-design for the reboot, and joining them in the killing spree is a new puppet that looks like a frog. This mysterious frog is the puppet featured in the first image, and it looks like it has just scored a very gruesome kill.

The Overlook Film Festival is being held from April 19th through the 22nd. We'll keep you updated on PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH as it makes its way out into the world. Hopefully it won't be long before we're hearing details on a wide release.
