Game of Thrones, Season 8, HBO

Before the battle for the Iron Throne kicks into overdrive this Sunday evening, HBO has unleashed six images from the upcoming third episode of the final season of GAME OF THRONES. Clocking in at 82-minutes long, the upcoming installment of George R.R. Martin's swords and sorcery saga is poised to be the longest episode of the fantasy-action series to date. In the photos – of which several look as if they take place before the Battle of Winterfell gets underway – we find the survivors of HBO's elaborate game preparing for the beginning of the end.

You can check out the photos for yourself below, which feature Sir Brienne of Tarth looking as battle-ready as ever alongside Jamie Lannister, both at the front of a very intimidating line of soldiers. We also find Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen presiding over the battle from the presumed safety of a nearby hilltop. Next there's Arya and Sansa Stark, sharing a knowing glance on the castle ramparts. Meanwhile, the next image shows Tyrion Lannister and Varys strategizing from the crypts, while the following photo has Jon Snow looking like he's just "browned his breeches" at the site of an undead dragon. Lastly, we find a solo shot of Sansa Stark, looking mean as hell in her Cersei-like attire.
