UPDATE: For those interested, the film’s official site is allowing you to “create” your own ending to the trailer (5 difference choices) RIGHT HERE!

Well, the wait is over!  The all-new trailer for THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is here and is every bit as epic as you could want.  Dwarves, Hobbits, Gandalf, Smeagol, Trolls, Elrond, Galadriel, and…rabbits?  They’re all here and looking as lush and fantastic as the first LOTR trilogy.  The trailer features quite a bit of comedy from the dwarves, which makes it a bit more lighter in tone than the previous trilogy, but no less sweeping and dangerous.

Grab your walking stick and head out the door:

It would be hard for anyone not to be excited for this.  I didn’t notice any visual problems (as has been rumbled about with the 48 fps footage shown earlier this year) and it looks perfectly in line with what we’ve come to expect from a Peter Jackson LOTR flick.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY hits theaters on December 14, 2012 with the sequels THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG set for December 13, 2013, and THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN on July 18, 2014.  So, pretty much we’re set on Hobbits for the next few years.
