Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is returning to the helm for a sequel that has been shrouded in secrecy for months – all we’ve heard up to this point was that Wingard’s The Guest star Dan Steven had joined the cast, and that was way back in May. But now Warner Bros. and Legendary have sent out a press release to give us more information on this currently untitled addition to the Monsterverse, which is scheduled to reach theatres on March 15, 2024.

The press release reveals that the screenplay for this film was written by Terry Rossio (the Pirates of the Caribbean series), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), and Simon Barrett (You’re Next), the three of them crafting a story that

follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

The press release also dropped a bunch of casting news, announcing that Stevens is being joined in the cast by Fala Chen (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Alex Ferns (Wrath of Man), and Rachel House (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), as well as returning Godzilla vs. Kong cast members Rebecca Hall (The Night House), Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train), and Kaylee Hottle, who made her screen acting debut in the Godzilla / Kong movie.

This Monsterverse film is being produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric Mcleod, Brian Rogers, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni, with Wingard executive producing alongside Josh Grode, Jay Ashenfelter, Jen Conroy, Kenji Okuhira, and Yoshimitsu Banno.

Here’s some information on the crew:

Once again, Wingard is collaborating with director of photography Ben Seresin (“Godzilla vs. Kong” “World War Z”), production designer Tom Hammock (“Godzilla vs. Kong” “X” “The Guest”), editor Josh Schaeffer (“Godzilla vs. Kong” “Molly’s Game”), and composer Tom Holkenborg (“Godzilla vs. Kong” “Mad Max: Fury Road”), who are now joined by costume designer Emily Seresin (“The Invisible Man” “Top of the Lake”), makeup artist Sabrina Wilson (“Captain Marvel” “The Suicide Squad” “The Book of Bobba Fett”), hairstylist Gloria Pasqua Casny (“The Tomorrow War” “Ford vs Ferrari”), and VFX supervisor Alessandro Ongaro (“The Adam Project” “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”).

The Godzilla vs. Kong sequel is being shot on location in Queensland, Australia. Warner Bros. will be releasing the film worldwide except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho Co., Ltd and in mainland China where it will be distributed by Legendary East.
