When HBO came down the mountain, large crowds followed them. It was then that the cable network lifted its mighty arms and said, “Let there be another season of THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES!” And oh how fans of the comedy series did cheer, shouting praise be to Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO programming, who bestowed the good word upon the people this day.

“Danny, Jody and David are among our favorite collaborators and we’re thrilled that their take on a family comedy has been met with such enthusiasm,” Gravitt declared. “We cannot wait to share the next steps in the Gemstone family’s epic journey. Hallelujah!”

Created by Danny McBride, THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES just launched its first nine-episode season on August 18th. The comedy series starring Danny McBride, John Goodman, Edi Patterson and Adam Devine tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work. Well into the second generation of a grand televangelist tradition, the renowned Gemstone family is living proof that worship pays dividends in all sizes, including their megachurch. Danny McBride stars as Jesse Gemstone, the eldest of three grown Gemstone offspring, who looks to lead in his father’s footsteps, but finds his past sins jeopardizing the family ministry. Walton Goggins, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams also star.

Can you feel the Holy Ghost workin' its way through your insides? Can you sense that the Rapture has decided to come another day? Are you prepared to be baptized by comedy and have all your sins washed away through the power of laughter? Open your arms and hearts, my lambs, and let HBO's THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES be your guide toward a better tomorrow and an empty bank account. For the sins of man won't be banished with prayer alone, no, sir. It's gonna take faith, belief, and cash! Can I get an amen? Can I get a Hallelujah? Go forth and laugh, my brothers and sisters. Feel the light pierce your soul and let the donations flow like wine!
